Hollywood director Michael Bay's appearance—and abrupt disappearance—at
Samsung’s press conference last Monday has left a lot of people utterly
confused, a reaction usually caused by the dizzying explosions and
action scenes of his films.
During the event at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the director of the Transformers trilogy was called onstage together with Samsung executive Joe Stinziano.
Bay was supposed to introduce an exclusive clip—to be played on Samsung’s brand new Ultra HD TV—from his upcoming new sequel to the Hasbro Robots in Disguise franchise, “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” which will be released on June 27, 2014.
Unfortunately, Bay stumbled on his words and "left the presentation after apologizing to the audience. Joe Stinziano asked the audience to give a round of applause as the director headed backstage, but many were left bewildered as to what caused his departure.
The film director's unusual behavior became a trending topic on social networks after the incident, which he later addressed in a blog entry on his official website.
Wow! I just embarrassed myself at CES – I was about to speak for Samsung for this awesome Curved 105-inch UHD TV. I rarely lend my name to any products, but this one is just stellar. I got so excited to talk, that I skipped over the Exec VP’s intro line and then the teleprompter got lost. Then the prompter went up and down – then I walked off. I guess live shows aren’t my thing.
But I’m doing a special curved screen experience with Samsung and Transformers 4 footage that will be traveling around the world.

Honest mistake or not, it was truly an embarrassing moment for Michael Bay—and it didn’t involve any trademark action sequences, either. — VC, GMA News
